CC MARTIN AND CAROLYN STUART

Pilates instructors. Hawk-eyed body alignment experts. Designers of
personalized client programs. Best friends forever

Life is much easier when someone has your back to the extent
they’re always nudging you forward.

We met in a college art class and from there, ignited a friendship that was as natural and necessary as breathing. It was like continuing a conversation we’d been having for years. Somehow we knew each other well.

Often you have to study and earn the ability to know something deeply...but sometimes you simply get to live into what’s already innately understood.

We schooled together, gymed together, summered together, worked together and lived together after graduation. And when real adult life started to take over, we still paralleled. Our engagements were three weeks apart. Our weddings, five months. And our pilates love affair began for similar and diverse reasons. Two very different people living our own lives but mirroring the milestones. Careers were made. Children were born.

And when a beloved spouse was lost, we travelled grief together too...

Sometimes it’s the missing thread that binds a family even tighter.

We forged our two pilates businesses into one, creating a single, powerful unit. We combined decades of experience, knowledge of movement, and pilates practitioner’s education to develop our programs, our license training center, and adjacent barre studio. Our work isn’t about going through the motions by just performing a series of moves or beating up the body - modern culture provides plenty of that. Our work is personalized, hyper-aware, and focused on posture, as the muscles of the pelvis, spine, torso, and shoulder girdle are the bedrock of the body.

To train in pilates and barre is to make a full commitment to being in the body, so you can breathe and move like you were intended to. This work is an intense athletic challenge and an antidote to sedentary work, endless task juggling, and chronic injuries...

But it’s also a preparation - because when the inevitable winds of change storm through life, it’s our devotion to ourselves, our body, and our relationships that make it much harder to shake the foundation.

How we move the body, how we breathe, and even whom we love - we make these unconscious, yet crucial decisions daily.

And like any choice - we recommend going with the one that sustains you.
