PILATES IS...SEXY AF!

Pilates is a series of exercises executed on a Mat or Reformer that focuses on lengthening our muscles. (Defying the negative effects of gravity on the skin and bones as we age.)  Pilates teaches the body to fight gravity using muscular control to strengthen the muscles of the entire body. The emphasis is on developing core strength and flexibility.

(Core - meaning all the muscles that relate to the spine, hips, pelvis - both front and back body.) Every day our spine is challenged by its environment and its "upholstery" creating chronic stress within the body inevitably leading to postural issues or injuries.


Pilates is one of the few exercise systems that continuously challenge you by layering on variations and repertoire keeping your body guessing and becoming more attune. Simple moves become more complex as the muscles elongate, strengthen and have the ability to stabilize against a load while adapting to the essential exercises. Pilates works with lever systems, which means heavier is not necessarily harder, sometimes it is the complete opposite. Simple test to know if you're doing it right? If its easy, your doing it wrong! 

Pilates keeps you plugged in! The brain power required for an effective Pilates session is off the charts, allowing you to experience a form of moving meditation, clearing the mind while delivering massive amounts of oxygen to your body leaving you refreshed and focused.  Pilates Reformer or Tower? At first glance you may feel as though you've entered some kinky kind of torture chamber, but quickly you discover these beauties will become your best friends!  Both are spring loaded apparatuses. The spring tension acts as either assistance or resistance. Example: If you hold on to a heavy spring-loaded bar, attached to a tower, it will give one assistance as they roll down onto and up from a mat. This allows you to successfully create the movement, moving through areas of the spine that you may have limitations due to lack of strength and or flexibility' eventually being able to do without the assist.
